African adventure volunteering

Africa Volunteering Adventure

This is an amazing experience that allows the more adventurous spirit to be deeply immersed in the real Africa. People spend large amounts of money on luxury South African safaris. You will experience twice the excitement and adventure as you discover the real African experience on this program.

You will know the thrill of an African game park as well as the pure joy of swimming with dolphins in the warm, crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. You will be immersed in an African community as you assist them to improve their lives in meaningful way.

You will work as an international volunteer on our South Africa volunteer program at the Dukuduku Crèche (day care centre), helping to build new and much-needed infrastructure such as classrooms, water catchments and recreational equipment. This is a high impact volunteer project providing food and shelter to the children of the poorest villagers. It is a deeply satisfying experience and I guarantee that you will leave your heart in Dukuduku!

As part of our ecological conservation program working to protect the endangered rhino population you will live in the heart of a game park where you will be on a team involved in a range of activities including setting night motion sensor cameras and checking to ensure poachers have not set traps. You'll also visit a nearby Big 5 Game Reserve to research and track elephants and monitor rhinos, cheetahs and leopards as well as work at a reptile center and much, much more.

Then let us take you on an real "off the beaten track" journey to the isolated and uniquely beautiful village of Ponto D’Oro in Mozambique. Here we have an international volunteer project working on building and infrastructure projects for local village schools to improve access to quality education for villagers. Once again, you will be warmly welcomed by the local community.

Your final and most exciting seven days are spent trekking in the African bush on a Big Five game reserve. The first three days will be walking in the bush from camp-site to camp-site, sleeping under the stars, listening to the purrs of leopards in the distance with a camp-fire for comfort and warmth. You are accompanied at all times by armed guides.
How can you top that for an African adventure?

We suggest that you check the policy you intend to purchase and make sure it has at least the following benefits (these amounts are listed as a guide only);

If you are not a citizen of these countries please check the website of your nearest South African embassy. Once you are in South Africa you will travel with ROV to the border of Mozambique where you can purchase a visa for around $80.00.

Do you want reassurance that…

  • you land at the right airport on the right day!
  • you have a reliable airline,
  • you have a reliable booking agency,
  • not paying too much for your tickets.

I’ll look for flights that have…
  • minimum stops and shorter connections,
  • that use single carriers to avoid delayed/missed flights and lost luggage issues.
Sometimes it is cheaper to land a day early or leave a day late. I arrange it all including any extra accommodation.
  • I call you and together we book your flights during the call.
  • I locate appropriate travel insurance for you to purchase.
  • I confirm your airport collection on arrival.
  • I confirm your return trip to the airport on departure day.
I’ll find the flights that work for you!

You can select the Flight Booking Service from the available Add-Ons once you have created a Profile with us. Don’t have a Profile? Click on the Apply Now button above and create one now.

* Cheaper flights with alternative airlines may be available. However, sometimes you may end up paying much more with hidden costs and extras :( we avoid this and help to make the travel element of your ROV experience hassle free :)

The 35 day African Adventure volunteer program

I enjoyed becoming so close with so many of the group members. We really did grow to be a little family! Despite having done a program before this one began, the 6-week adventure was still not what i had expected it to be. It was so much more. The game park week blew my mind. Being able to interact with and live amongst the wildlife was an incredible experience, for me that was the most memorable part. I'll never forget it.

Hannah, Australia.
