Experience the amazing Kathmandu and stunning Himalayas.

This project is the perfect mix of cultural immersion, hiking, and making a difference. You will help out at a school, explore the history of Kathmandu, and of course trek through the gorgeous Himalayas to an altitude of 10,500 feet above sea level!

During the first week, you will assist locals in the heart of Kathmandu repairing a school badly damaged in the 2015 earthquake. You’ll be spending your afternoons visiting historical parts of the city, learning to cook the traditional Dal Bhat, and of course exploring the colourful markets.

In the second week, you’re on 5 full days of trekking in the Himalayas. Each day will be a different experience. You will hear the sounds of the bells jangling on the yaks as they head down the path. You will enjoy the fresh mountain air, the waterfalls and the ever-changing mountain views that make it one of the most astounding and uplifting treks in the world.

This trip has been incredible! Working on the classroom in Kathmandu with my small group of ladies was one of the most rewarding experiences Iäó»ve ever had. Seeing the temples throughout the week was amazing and I learned so much from our local guides about local culture, language and spirituality. The days were long but went by so fast because of how much fun we were having. The Poon Hill trek in the second week was a once in a lifetime experience, and the views were indescribable! Our guide for the trek and our porters always kept our spirits up. Mariah, our team leader, was so welcoming and lovely, and I felt immediately at home with her and the other ladies. We ended up being a tight knit pariwar (family) that I will cherish and keep in contact with forever!

This experience was extremely rewarding for many reasons. I made wonderful connections with the other volunteers, my team leader Mariah, the guides, and the children whose classroom we helped to build. Overall it's been overwhelmingly life changing and fulfilling. The feeling of accomplishment is strong as we worked together to contribute our physical energy towards the wellbeing of the Nepali children. I also feel very capable of having hiked for 5 days straight. 10/10 experience and I'm so excited for Everest base camp!!

As this being my third ROV project I can truly say I love this organisation and the Nepal program was a great once in a lifetime experience. The program itself was very organised and planed well, I never felt unsafe and always knew what was happening. I really liked this program because there was a mixture of volunteering , but also trekking in which we were able to appreciate the beauty of Nepal. If there was any issue someone always quickly responded to me. My team leader Mariah was awesome! She made me feel so welcomed and was easy to talk to if I had any worries. Overall, I loved my whole month long experience in Nepal and would recommend this program to anyone who wants to help make a difference.

This was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I was able to see a new culture and help change it. We helped build a classroom and then went for a trek. The trek was super difficult but very rewarding. I can't wait to see what my next trip brings.

"Hi, I'm the guy in the video with the beard. Thinking about going to see Everest before you're too old to make the hike? This is the way to do it! This was the perfect way to escape my job and spend some PTO to get to trek through the Himalayas with awesome Sherpas like Kumar. Thanks to Tom and everyone else who made the trek easy and enjoyable! Going back to work was way less fun than this adventure."

This is a life changing experienceäóî getting to help build classrooms for lovely and adorable children! The kids are the highlight of this trip. Making connections with fellow volunteers was great as i made friends from around the world! The guide, locals and team leader made the experience even more fun by making everything well planned for us! I wish i could extend my stay by doing the Everest Base Camp! The hike (PoonHill) was breathtaking and worth every sweat!

"What an amazing experience! Loved being immersed in the culture and getting to see multiple areas of the country. From helping the kids in the orphanage and playing with them, to trekking through the jungle to poon hill and then finally trekking for the 10 days to Basecamp and back. Would definitely recommend to anyone! Amazing"

This was my first international trip, once I got to Kathmandu it was smooth sailing. The work was hard, but very rewarding. The views on the trek are incredible, words cannot do it justice and who doesnäó»t want to conquer Poon hill.

"Can't begin to describe how amazing this trip was. I mean seeing the Himalayas is one thing. But seeing the tallest mountain in the world: breathtaking to say the least. Not to mention I got to do it with so many great people and learn so much about Nepali culture, it was truly the best thing Iäó»ve ever gotten to do. The people were so fun, some of my best friends I met on this trip. The local guides were super knowledgeable and helped so much. My favorite part was going to Monkey Temple and seeing all of the prayer flags. That and the view of the lake in Pokhara"

"I was honored to go on the first ROV Nepal trip in 2018. This program is full of wonderful new experiences. The volunteering is a heartwarming achievement dedicated to making the lives of the community that little bit better. The hiking is a tough but very manageable and rewarding experience, all fitness levels invited. Hiking up to base camp was astonishingly beautiful. That first glimpse of the glaciers is breathtaking and then you look up and see Mount Everest standing tall right in front of you and words can not explain the excitement and relief you feel. ROV is an amazing volunteer organization and I will continue to be involved in more programs in the near future."

Every single moment on this trip was very memorable. I loved getting to know everyone on our program and will always remember the connections I made with locals. This program was even better than I expected. I really enjoyed going to the monkey temple and thought it was amazing that we got to celebrate Buddhaäó»s birthday during lunch.

"I adored the construction project. I had never worked harder on anything like that before for anyone, and knowing that we could help these sweet kids made me work even harder than I thought I was capable of. I know it will make a difference. Definitely, the most memorable parts involved the trekking through the mountains. I was expecting to just get bored after the first day seeing nothing but trees and rocks, but I was blown away by the immensity of the snow-capped mountains, the beauty of the waterfalls, and the charm of walking with such a fun family through a new world. Poonhill was definitely the cherry on top, my jaw still hurts from dropping when I saw that sunrise."

"Every part was my favorite. The first week was great because the kids made it fun. The second week was challenging and mentally frustrating but it was worth it in the end. Overall, the whole group made it worth it also because everybody had such a positive attitude. The team leader was great. He made sure he had a personal connection with everybody there and also made sure everybody laughed and enjoyed their experience."

My most memorable parts of the project were the dance the children did for us on the last day of the program, seeing the progress of the school each day, and day 2 of the trek (stair day). I also really enjoyed Poon Hill. Team leader Tom was amazing, he exceeded my expectations. He was caring, empathetic, and always kept a close eye on our feelings and health. He kept calm during high-stress situations and was always willing to go with the flow.
