An African Adventure where you experience living on a Big 5 game reserve, help at-risk children and more!

Overview

Experience all South Africa has to offer!


Spend the beginning of your trip working on a community project to help at-risk children at our creches and immerse yourself in the South African culture as you visit a cultural village and learn traditional dancing. 


There are exciting optional activities allowing you to visit the beautiful Cape Vidal, go on hippo & crocodile boat cruises and interact with Rescued elephants. 


You'll then live on a Big 5 game reserve where you can track endangered wildlife and help to protect their habitat! Evenings will be spent bonding around campfires as you listen to the animal sounds around you. 


There will be trips to Kosi bay with a boat cruise, and time to relax on the beach. 


This truly gives you the best of South Africa!

Basic Itinerary
DAY 1 Itinerary

Arrive anytime on the first day. If you have purchased the Airport Add On your team leader will be waiting for you in an ROV shirt holding an ROV sign. Alternatively, you can meet us at the accommodation listed in your 4 weeks prior to program email. There is a walking tour of St Lucia in the afternoon and a group dinner giving everyone a chance to get to know each other. Meals Provided: Dinner

DAY 2 Itinerary

This morning after breakfast you will head out to the local village and receive an introduction to the Creche project. You may be building a new classroom, a soup kitchen, or other meaningful projects. Each program set the projects undertaken will vary slightly and this will be due to the current needs of the community. After lunch, you'll have some free time to relax. Later in the day, there is an optional sunset boat cruise where you can see hippos and crocodiles. See the add ons section for more information. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

DAY 3 Itinerary

Today you will continue work on the creche project. There will be cement to that needs mixing, holes to be dug, or walls to be painted. The children at the creche are always up for a game and their beautiful smiles will make it impossible to say no. You'll continue work on the creche project before returning for some time to relax before dinner. In the evening you'll be treated to a local dancing performance. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

DAY 4 Itinerary

Your day will be busy undertaking the Creche project. During the afternoon we return to the accommodation where you can relax by the pool, read a good book, play cards games or catch up on some Netflix. After dinner, there will be some free time. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

DAY 5 Itinerary

This morning we will go to Veyanne Village to see a traditional Zulu village. You'll be able to dress up in traditional clothing, learn the art of weaving and reenact hunting dances. After lunch there is the optional add on to visit Cape Vidal. You'll drive through iSimangaliso in our Game Park vehicles to Cape Vidal. It's an absolutely stunning drive and it will lead you to a private beach were we'll enjoy a traditonal Braii (BBQ). For those who haven't purchased the add on, you can spend your afternoon relaxing by the pool. Meals Provided: Breakfast & Lunch.

DAY 6 Itinerary

This morning we will be leaving our accommodation in St.Lucia and make our way to the game park where you will be living for the next three days! On the way, you'll visit a Cheetah Rehabilitation center where you can get up and close with the cheetahs and the other cat species who are residents there. There will be time to settle into your new accommodation before an orientation tour of the game reserve, Enjoy dinner sitting around a campfire, listening to the sounds of the wildlife around you. Meals Provided: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

DAY 7 Itinerary

Breakfast is bright and early at the Game Reserve. Today you and your group will rotate between tasks at the Game Park consisting of animal tracking, alien plant identification and removal and much more. Lunch at the Game Reserve. You will rotate the morning’s tasks and be involved in animal tracking or alien plant identification and removal. Dinner at the Game Park followed by a night drive. Meals Provided: B/L/D

DAY 8 Itinerary

Bright and early Breakfast so we can get out to see the animals as they come to the waterholes. Today you and your group will rotate between tasks at the Game Park consisting of animal tracking, alien plant identification and removal and much more. Lunch at the Game Reserve. You will rotate the morning’s tasks and be involved in animal tracking or alien plant identification and removal. Dinner at the Game Park followed by a night drive. Meals Provided: B/L/D

DAY 9 Itinerary

Breakfast is early today. We are off to Kosi Bay in the North East of Sth Africa and close to the border with Mozambique. Here we will be on the endless white beaches by the warm Indian Ocean coast. It is a vast remote and magical place of shimmering lakes, forests, bush and pristine seashore. On the way, we will stop for an Elephant Interaction. You will meet Jabulani the giant bull elephant and get a chance to know his incredible and moving story. We will arrive in Kosi Bay at around 2.30pm and take a walk in the local forest. DAY 10 Itinerary

Today we are in Kosi Bay. We will be taking a boat cruise on the lake and will be treated to a fish braai, the local word for BBQ. There is much to see and do here including getting to know the cultural capital of the ancient Tsonga Tembe kingdom. This is the original and natural home of the Tsonga people and their fish traps. DAY 11 Itinerary

Today we head south to St Lucia and our hotel accommodation. We will arrive back at around 2.00pm and will take time to get to know the local beach with volleyball and other games. Meals Provided: B/L/D

DAY 12 Itinerary

Breakfast at the accommodation venue. This morning you will finish up any outstanding work on our building project at the creche. Then we will have a party to celebrate with the community and a farewell to the children. This is a highlight for everyone and you will really feel a sense of accomplishment and know that you have been a part of something incredible that really changes lives. On return to the accommodation, you will have some free time to relax before your final dinner in St.Lucia. This is a chance for you and your fellow travelers to have a night in a local restaurant together, share your best moments, celebrate your achievement and plan your future catch-ups. DAY 13 Itinerary

Breakfast at the accommodation. You’ll say your goodbyes to St.Lucia and then be transported back to Richards Bay for your flight. Meals Provided: B After arriving in Durban you will settle into your new accommodation and enjoy some lunch. There will be free time this afternoon to hang by the pool, read a book, etc. Final group dinner at the accommodation – where we’ll treat you to a drink.

  • Arrival: Durban International Airport (DUR) – you can arrive at any time on the arrival day. Take the Airport pickup Add On and we'll be there when you land.
  • Departure: Durban International Airport (DUR) – you can depart at any time on the final day. Take the airport drop-off Add On and we will take you to the airport.
